KD11S Now Available at Alloy Tool SteelAlloy Tool Steel now stocks KD11S premium-grade tool steel for immediate delivery. KD11S is superior to standard D-2 tool steel and offers higher levels of abrasion, superior wear resistance, and better fatigue properties. KD11S is a refined-processed material which is much cleaner than D-2 tool steel. This material has a machinability rating of 60% of carbon tool steel with a tool life more than twice as long as standard D-2 tool steel. KD11S is sold in the annealed condition with a typical annealed hardness of BHN 253 (Rc 25); and can be heat treated under the same conditions as standard D-2 tool steel to a maximum hardness of BHN 670 (Rc 61). KD11S is capable of meeting the requirements of ASTM-681. Typical applications for KD11S include: press dies, roll dies, punches, trim dies, gauges, and more. |
Alloy Tool Steel Stocks 4140HT Alloy Steel4140HT alloy steel is now available at Alloy Tool Steel. 4140HT is a chromium/molybdenum, medium-carbon steel offering medium to high hardenability and good fatigue properties. This material has a machinability rating of 50% to 55% of a 1212 carbon steel. 4140HT is sold in the pre-hardened condition at BHN 262/321 (Rc 26.6/34.3) with a higher surface hardness and a lower center hardness. 4140HT is capable of meeting the requirements of ASTM-A322. Typical applications for 4140HT include: base plates, molds, fixtures, tool holders, support plates, punch holders, and more. |
